The Feast of Nayrouz commemorates the courage and faith of countless martyrs throughout Christian history, including the inspiring tale of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. These brave soldiers, who lived during the early 4th century, faced a chilling ordeal in Sebaste (modern-day Turkey). Refusing to renounce their Christian faith, they were exposed overnight on a frozen lake in the dead of winter. Though enduring severe cold, they stood firm, their hearts warmed by their steadfast devotion to Christ.
Their story is a poignant reminder of the trials faced by Christians in ancient times, echoing the courage celebrated during Nayrouz. Their resilience, even in the face of death, reflects the deep spiritual significance of this feast—a time to honor all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their faith. Their witness continues to inspire us today, urging us to stand firm in our beliefs amidst challenges, reminding us of the glorious Resurrection that follows suffering.
This Nayrouz, let us reflect on the legacy of these Forty Martyrs and all who have suffered for their faith. Their example strengthens our resolve and deepens our gratitude for the freedom to worship freely.

Agora University strives to maintain a close relationship between students and staff. Many members of our faculty are involved in discipling students during the academic years. Faculty members encourage students as they grow in their personal devotions, discuss things they are learning in class, and challenge them in areas where the students may be struggling. Students have ready access to any staff or faculty member and are encouraged to seek help both academically and personally
